Outline of Annual Research Achievements

The fully developed research instrument was deployed throughout the academic year, resulting in a sufficient amount of data being collected. Following a revised research schedule due to the pandemic, data was concurrently collected for multiple reports including the exploration of the reliability and accuracy of learner-generated self-transcriptions and an investigation of teacher perceptions of the pedagogical activity. Manuscripts for both reports were drafted. Three presentations were given, with the aim of expanding uptake of the main research instrument and expanding the participant sample. Though feedback from attendees was positive and inquisitive, there have been very few legitimate requests for participation.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

Although the research timeline was significantly impacted by the pandemic, data was finally collected and analyzed, and reports are currently being revised for publication. Supplementary data is being collected for further research in the current academic year, which should contribute to the field through research reports and presentations in the coming years. Onboarding videos have proven rather successful in increasing awareness within the current research environment, and will be used during presentations delivered this year.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

A one-year extension has been granted for this project, which will provide the use of leftover funding for one more year of efforts to publicize the research instrument to potential participants and collaborators in other research environments, such as junior high schools and other universities. Two currently drafted research reports are expected to be published, with a third report planned for the second term of the academic year.

Causes of Carryover

Research funds will be used to travel to several conferences at which analyzed data will be presented. Other costs include articles, books, statistical software, and maintenance of the research instrument.
