Outline of Final Research Achievements

I made presentations abroad on results of the analyses about usages of grammatical function words in 16th through 19th century Vietnamese, which I have researched in advance. I exchanged ideas there with researchers worldwide of related fields, and got inspirations on my future researches. I collected Vietnamese literatures in the first half of 20th Century, and selected works that are suitable for my research, and made their digital data by OCR scanning. I analyzed them by natural language process to see how grammatical function words are used syntactically, which means in relation with words around them. I published the result on an academic magazine.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

ベトナム語のいくつかの文法機能を表す語は、20世紀前半に文法化された可能性が高く、西洋諸言語との接触の中で、近代的な公的諸分野での使用に堪えうる言語となるためにいくつかの文法表現を明示するようになったと考えられる。このような近代書記言語としての確立という現象は諸言語に見られ、日本語をはじめとする各有力言語の現状が所与のものでなく、一定の過程を経て成立したものであるという、言語変化の本質の一側面に迫るものである。
