Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
All my research papers, presentations and events are connected to the analysis of representations of families, parenting, and related embodied experience (for example, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and care) in a selection of literary texts by contemporary Japanese women authors. I use feminist theory to “queer” the family; that is, I questioned literary representations to expand the concept of family. I was a panelist at two academic online conferences.I also hosted an event with Professor Hitomi Yoshio (Waseda University), author Mieko Kawakami and translators Sam Bett and David Boyd on gender and translation. I also published a bilingual report of this event. I also published an academic article on Kawakami Mieko's work in the journal Japanese Language and Literature,2020.
