Outline of Annual Research Achievements

All my research papers, presentations and events are connected to the analysis of representations of families, parenting, and related embodied experience (for example, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and care) in a selection of literary texts by contemporary Japanese women authors. I use feminist theory to “queer” the family; that is, I questioned literary representations to expand the concept of family.
I was a panelist at two academic online conferences.I also hosted an event with Professor Hitomi Yoshio (Waseda University), author Mieko Kawakami and translators Sam Bett and David Boyd on gender and translation. I also published a bilingual report of this event. I also published an academic article on Kawakami Mieko's work in the journal Japanese Language and Literature,2020.
