Research Abstract

グラファイトの一枚のシート(グラフェン)と縮合多環系芳香族炭化水素分子の間に位置するナノグラフェンの電子構造は端の形状の幾何学構造に大きく依存し、ジグザグ型の端には特異なエッジ状態と呼ばれる局在スピンをもったπ電子状態が形成される。このようなエッジ状態は、電子授受機能、化学反応活性点として働き、その局在スピンは分子磁性設計の要素となる。本研究では、ナノグラフェン端の原子分解能での電子構造の解明により「ナノグラフェンの端の精密科学」を創成するとともに、炭素2次電池、キャパシタ、触媒等の仕組みの基礎となるグラフェン端での電子授受機能・化学反応性の解明、エッジ状態に基づく分子磁性体の開拓、電子・スピン機能を用いた分子素子への発展を目指す。
