Outline of Final Research Achievements |
A radiation position sensing method based on the red-shift of scintillating light is proposed and demonstrated. In this method, photon flux is split into two wavelength ranges, one with large transmission losses and the other with small transmission losses. Each split photon flux is detected by a silicon photomultiplier. The position is detected by evaluating the degree of red-shift of the optical spectrum from the output signal ratio of the two silicon photomultipliers. A proof-of-principle experiment showed that the position of Sr90 beta radiation sources can be detected by proposed method. The proposed method uses coincidence measurements to improve the signal-to-noise ratio. It is clarify that the measurement result depends on the threshold value of the coincidence measurement and that the threshold value is an important parameter in the proposed measurement.
