Research Abstract |
In order to understand the induction of ascidian peripheral nervous system, I investigated the role of nodal signaling pathway in neural plate border induction. My results show that nodal regulates the specification of ascidian peripheral neurons via induction of chordin and BMPs in neural plate border. In addition, I isolate the cis-regulatory elements of nodal target genes, ci-chordin and ci-Pax3/7, and identify their nodal response elements.
