Research Abstract

I focused on the knowledge needed to develop a control method against a destructive insect, Pieris rapae crucivora, which is a major pest of the Brassicaceae family that includes many economically important vegetable crops, and elucidation of biological interaction both P. rapae and Brassicaeae plants. Adult females were preferred cabbage to other 4 kinds of Brassicaeae plants. In addition, 4 attractants in cabbage extract were estimated. Moreover, it was clarified that time emitted maximum volatile concentration from cabbage was almost same as maximum preference percentage of P. rapae.
