Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This application study aims to verify whether a diagnostic ultrasound probe can measure weak MHz acoustic waves generated by proton beam irradiation from a medical proton synchrotron accelerator. Based on the research plan, the modulation of the radiofrequency waves for the accelerator's output was improved. The sensitivity center frequency of the medical ultrasound probes that were available for purchase was higher than the MHz frequency of the beam and did not match the sensitivity. Under these condition constraints, clearly distinguishing the resonance frequency from the noise level was difficult. However, it is possible to measure it with frequency-matched industrial ultrasonic probes.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
診断用超音波プローブにより陽子線照射によるMHz音響波の計測が確認できれば、通常のMHz超音波の送受信による超音波診断技術による臓器の画像化と、陽子線照射中の超音波受信によるMHz音響波による放射線由来の信号計測を組み合わせて、将来の患者体内の臓器位置と放射線線量分布の同時確認のための基本的要素技術が確認できる。本研究で得られた知見は今後の研究に役立てることができる。
