Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study focuses on the Muromachi Shogunate's councilors and magistrates, or bureaucrats, to clarify the development process of the Shogunate's power based on changes in their positions and functions. This study first traces the individual activities of the Muromachi shogunate magistrates, including the Inoo and Matsuda clans, and clarifies how they were connected to the Shogun and the Kanrei. In addition, we examined the way in which official documents of the shogunate were created and managed, and clarified that the magistrate occupied an important position. Next, we focused on not only the administrative documents kept by these magistrates, but also on the books that contributed to scholarship, and examined where their scholarly interest lay. Finally, we examined the way they learned martial arts and engaged in military activities, focusing on the reviewers of the Kamakura period, and clarified that they were promoted to commanders by the end of the Kamakura period.
