Outline of Final Research Achievements |
After great dissaster of east Japan 2011, our human kind is tasked to realize high energy safety and production in improved efficiency upon needs of sustainable society. Marine technoligy is one of such concerns, to which we develop turbulent frictional drag reduction method feasible to marine vessels. In this project, we have established three kinds of new techniques that convert unstable bubbly two-phase flow to controled state to save energy consumption of large ships through multiple laboratory scaled fundamental experiments to find out hidden science in bubbly turbulent boundary layer at high Reynolds numbers. We have eventually suceeded in 15% energy saving for four kinds of marine vessels demonsrated by sea-trial as well.
