Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this research, we conducted a survey mainly on Japanese early learners, and studied the way of various kinds of evaluation to promote students' self-efficacy and autonomy in elementary school foreign language activities and foreign languages. In doing so, Can-Do evaluation, portfolios, and performance assessment were tried, and after qualitative and quantitative verification, it was made public by booklets and our website. In addition, it was considered that classes and teaching methods would be changed and improved by designing evaluation criteria and methods when planning lessons. Therefore, we verified it by practicing of both teaching and evaluating, while suggesting better tasks which are useful, meaningful, purposeful, and relevant to learners.
Specifically, we created the Can-Do rating scale, the assessment of literacy skills, rubric, etc. using the common materials such as Hi, friends! 1, 2, Plus and Let's Try! We Can! published by ministry of education in Japan.
