Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Recently, the forms of employment have been increasingly diversified. Along with the trend, the policies to encourage flexible working style have become ever more necessary to achieve the appropriate work-life balance. These policies should include shedding excessive overtime work currently common among the male workers while securing stable work environment and career opportunities for the part-time and temporary workers. On top of that, the work-sharing fit into the Japanese culture and work environment must play a central role as a useful measure to prompt necessary social transformation. Current studies suggest that introducing the policies to promote flexible working style among the Japanese male workers who are often under pressure to work long hours for an extended period, is crucial in achieving the work-life balance.
