Research Abstract |
This research verifies the creation process and English expressions in Heiner Muller's text. I was the first Japanese researcher to visit the Heiner Muller Archive in Berlin ; there I researched his unpublished documents. My work revealed the complete process of his translations and adaptations of Shakespeare, which were previously unclear. Moreover, I discovered a fragment of an English poem he wrote. This shows his real intent for English expressions. His interest in the English language is more essential than currently supposed, and is closely related to his creation process.
