Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was interpretation of mechanism for injury occurrence in alpine skiing. As a result of questionnaire study for collegiate alpine skiers, it is clear that knee injury is the most frequent injury as well as previous studies by world cup skiers. The major factor for knee injuries was tumbling during skiing. The weight of force plate for one ski is about 1.9kg, and whole system including storage is about 5.3kgm, which is 3.0kg lighter than present device. The measurement range of ground reaction forces are up to 5kN in each directions and moments are up to 400Nm. Maximal sampling late was 1200 Hz. As a result of the measurement, maximal ground reaction force was up to 6 times body weight, which is 2 times greater than previous study (3.5 times body weight). This greater ground reaction force and vibration by snow may lead skier’s unbalance and tumble.
