Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This project was aimed at better understanding travel behavior in the context of social networks and social effects. Different from traditional travel behavior models, we aimed to develop methods to (i) observe joint decision-making processes and (ii) model these joint processes in order to gain a better understanding of activity travel patterns. The achievements of this project can be summarized as follows: (a) evaluated the use of Google Maps location history data to detect joint activities. (b) developed a model to simulate social network formation from panel data, (c) estimated a destination choice model of joint eating out activities explicitly incorporating group-level attributes (d) develop ed a novel methodology for observing the joint decision-making process of travel choices.Furthermore, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we extended the scope of this project to also consider social influence in travel behavior changes during the pandemic.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
交通研究の分野において、世帯外の社会的相互作用は最先端のモデルでも十分に考慮され てきていない。多くの活動・交通行動に関連する意思決定は、個人が孤立した状態でなされるのではなく、社会的ネットワークとの直接的または間接的なインタラクションの結果である。従って、次世代の行動モデルを開発するために、この意思決定メカニズムを解明は不可欠である。本研究は、(i)ネットワーク生成モデルの提案、(ii)グループ活動における意思決定過程の観測手法の開発とグループ活動の行動モデル開発でその取り組みに寄与している。
