Outline of Final Research Achievements

We found prevalence of important cardiovascular risk factors in Bangladeshi population is as follows: (behavioral risk factors); 86.9% unhealthy diets, 53.5% tobacco use, 21.7% smoking, 41.4% physical inactivity, 0.7% alcohol consumption; (physical risk factors): 28.5% elevated blood pressure, 24.1% overweight, 19.7% abdominal obesity; (cardio metabolic risk factors): 10.2% elevated fasting blood glucose, 65.7% low HDL cholesterol, 35.64% raised total cholesterol, 33.8% raised triglyceride. % of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) was higher in male compared to female in Bangladesh. The prevalence of important cardio metabolic risk factors in young ACS patients in Bangladesh is: diabetes (17.4%); hypertension (28.77%); low HDL (61.19%); elevated triglyceride (44.29%); overweight (19.49%); obese (4.73%). The prevalence in old ACS patients is: diabetes (24.6%); hypertension (34.42%); low HDL (56%); elevated triglyceride (35.79%); overweight (19.14%) and obese (4.46%).
