Outline of Final Research Achievements

The present study demonstrated that the intrathecal administration of [Leu11]-HK-1 attenuated HK-1-induced scratching and the induction of scratching behavior by 5-HT or histamine, indicating that HK-1 is a neurotransmitter or neuromodulator in pruritic processing at the level of the spinal cord. And D-tryptophan (D-Trp) prolongs the duration of effective time of [Leu11]-HK-1.Therefore, it is possible that [Leu11]-HK-1 is a valuable tool for clarifying the underlying mechanism of pruritic processing, but not nociceptive processing at the spinal level.
