Outline of Final Research Achievements

Our aim was to develop a prevention strategy focused on maternal anti-fetal rejection for preterm delivery in women with chorioamnionitis. Although a considerable number of preterm deliveries are related to maternal anti-fetal rejection, we could not find evidence of their prevalence. We analyzed plasma soluble HLA-G levels in the first trimester of each of the 23 pregnant women. Owing to the limited number of cases, we could not establish the utility of plasma soluble HLA-G level in early pregnancy as an index marker of preterm delivery. We set the prevention protocol for preterm delivery, including screening for bacterial vaginosis and asymptomatic bacteriuria, measurement of uterine cervical length, and intervention with progesterone supplementation.
