| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The results of this research project are summarized as follows: First, the creation of the so-called "late canon" in the Ancient Egyptian art during the mid-7th Century BCE, is to be explained as the result of adapting the traditional grid system to the anthropometric cubit system.Along with the new human proportion, other non-anthropomorphic figures such as shrines, capitals, lions, sphinxes also became subject to canonization. Second,the comparative analysis of the Egyptian and the Graeco-Roman design theories revealed that the Egyptian proportional method are essentially equivalent to the Graeco-Roman "Symmetria", which had been considered as pure Classical Greek invention. This finding indicates that the roots of the anthropometric proportional method are much deeper than the previous researchers have assumed.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
数多くの立体作品の正確な記録とそのプロポーションの比較分析は、近年の3次元測量技術の発展までは現実的に不可能であったが、本研究においてその限界を克服し、立体作品のプロポーションを正確に分析する方法論を確立し、これまで殆ど顧みられることのなかった彫刻のプロポーションの研究を大幅に進展させたことの学術的意義は大きく、後続の研究者たちにとって道標となるはずである。
また、紀元前5世紀ごろのギリシア・クラシック期に起源があるとされてきた人体比例理論と同等の理論が一世紀半以上前のエジプトにて存在していた事実の発見は、従来の西洋およびオリエントの美術史観を根底から揺るがし、再考を促すものである。
