Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In hypersensitivity pneumonitis, the influx of lymphocytes induce inflammation in the lung. In this study, we used the hypersensitivity pneumonitis mouse model that inhaled PDE (pigeon dropping extracts)and investigated the role of sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) signaling. FTY720 (Fingolimod) is a S1P receptor modulator that inhibits lymphocyte emigration from lymphoid organs. The administration of FTY720 inhibited the influx of lymphocytes and neutrophils into the lung, and the mRNA expression of IL-17A in bronchoalveolar lavage cells. But FTY720 did not affect the fibrosis of the lung tissues. Furthermore, the SphK inhibitor did not affect the lung fibrosis induced by PDE inhalations.
