Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to clarify the actual situation of Asian trade ceramics in Northern Europe. As a research method, the excavated material of the Gotheborg of Swedish East India Company which sank off the coast of Gothenburg in 1745, and the Geldermalsen of Dutch East India Company which sank in the South China Sea in 1752. I actually observed, compared, and analyzed these materials in detail. In addition, all fragments of Asian ceramics unearthed in Copenhagen, Denmark were photographed. As a result, I was able to present basic materials and raise questions in Northern Europe, which is the boundary region of the distribution of Asian ceramics within Europe.
